The Casting Types: Explained
So, you're looking to start your creative jewelry journey. AMAZING! So, let's explore your options...
Just the Kit? Or With Casting?
It's up to you, but if you buy your kit with the casting, you will automatically save $10!
Alternatively, you can just buy the kit to create, and then pay for your jewelry at a later date when you are ready to return it to our team for casting.
The Casting Types
We have three different casting types to help us categorise any jewelry creation that we receive. The main differences between each one are simply limitations on the wax weight and whether the type is for single item jewelry (such as a ring, or a pendant), or for paired item jewelry (such as a pair of earrings - not two individual jewelry items like two rings).
Casting Type | Wax Weight Limit (g) | Single / Double | Examples |
The Classic | 1.5g | Single | Ring, Pendant, Necklace etc |
The Statement | 2.5g | Single | Ring, Pendant, Necklace etc |
The Double Luxe | 0.75g (each) | Double | Earrings or Cufflinks |
The Classic
Our MOST POPULAR casting type covers a huge range of jewelry ring and necklace designs. This casting type is for single item jewelry such as a ring, a pendant, a charm, a pet tag, etc. The wax weight limit is 1.5g, which is roughly 50% of your starting 4mm ring wax blank. This is plenty for most jewelry designs!!

The Statement
For those of you creatives looking for a showpiece - something with more weight and substance to WOW! The Statement casting type offers more flexibility with design, thickness and size. The weight limit of this type is a breathable 2.5g, and you'll be fully equipped with both the 5mm and 8mm wax thicknesses, in addition to your bar, square and circle wax types.

The Double Luxe
Perfect for paired jewelry items, we can now take two earring waxes or cufflink waxes and cast them together. Our team will then hand-finish your jewelry and affix the earring posts or cufflink clasps for you - don't sweat it! The wax weight limit for the Double Luxe is 0.75g / each wax, which ends up being 8.4g silver each, about the weight of 4 dimes on each ear. Be careful... earrings at this upper limit can be heavy and uncomfortable to wear depending on what you're used to!
